Music Without Rules

Bio
Bruce Taylor writes songs the way poets write. He listens for the line that lands and then gives it room. Born in Eugene, Oregon, and now making music on California’s North Coast, he blends folk, rock and blues into poetry-inspired songs that run from front-porch tender to roadhouse loud.
His motto is music without rules, and his shows live up to it. A Bruce Taylor set can go from laughter to a hush inside one verse, mixing storytelling, confession and the occasional singalong. Audiences are invited to settle in for a night of laughs and a deep look at life and what surrounds us: reflection and introspection, carried by one voice and an acoustic guitar.
On stage he works close to the bone. His live sessions include “Just Love Me,” “Train a Coming,” “Island of Pain,” “People These Days” and “Ferris Wheel.” His seven-song release Ryman Sessions (“Beautiful,” “Drunken Father,” “Time (Where Did It Go),” “Lucky 7,” “Holes,” “Man With No Country,” “Falling In Love”) is streaming now. Bruce has appeared as the special feature at A Reason to Listen Poetry Show at the Septentrio Barrel Room in Arcata, CA, a natural home for an artist whose songs start as poems.
He has never forgotten where he started. His single “Fire in the O” is an anthem for the University of Oregon and the ultimate U of O spirit song. It launched alongside the BTKID 16.6 “Fire in the O” sneaker, a Bruce Taylor × Trinidad Kid collaboration whose first run sold out.
Bruce Taylor is a Eugene-born singer-songwriter making poetry-driven folk rock and blues on California’s North Coast.
